Workforce Development
Kids Club: Provides free “drop
in” programs in low-income apartment communities and low-performing
schools. Members enjoy arts ‘n crafts, drama activities, Gift of Giving
(service) projects, reading and writing exercises, and fun games with
their peers while developing important life and safety skills. Includes
the Academic Enrichment
Program which
enhances the math and reading skills of children and youth using non-traditional
teaching methods.
Community Family
Club:
Family-focused program that encourages parents to participate in small
group activities with their children each month. Based around a potluck meal, this program develops skills in
parenting, conflict resolution and family communication. Creates a stable network of support for
children, parents and other family members.
Teens in Action: Serves teens
ages 12-21. Members participate in high-adventure group
activities that teach them to make good decisions and develop positive
peer relationships. The workforce development program provides job
skills training, character development and employment opportunities to
youth living in low-income families. The
Alternative Education program provides supervision, educational
support, counseling and other services to youth, ages 10 to 17, referred
by local justice authorities.
Workforce Development:
Year-long program offering employment, vocational training/GED assistance,
and job-readiness training that includes critical job-seeking and
job-keeping skills for economically disadvantaged young adults, ages
18-21. Currently the program focuses on primarily in the Vickery Meadows
area in Dallas.

Camping and
Outdoor Education: Nestled in southwest Dallas
County�s Cedar Hill area, Camp Ellowi is a 65-acre “outdoor
classroom” that includes cabins, platform tents, a main lodge, a playing
field, a game court, a challenge course, archery, hiking trails, canoeing and a
swimming pool. Camping opportunities include:
Ellowi
Day Camp – weekly summer day camps for youth ages six years old to 15.
Chi
Omega Day Camp – a week-long day camp experience for economically
disadvantaged youth.
Open
Camping � a weekend camping experience offered throughout the year
for all Camp Fire members.
Traditional Club: Camp Fire USA�s traditional program. Members progress through program levels in groups divided by grade, from kindergarten
through high school. Offers a mix of fun activities, projects, and events that
help participants to develop life skills.
