Camp
Fire USA’s clubs reach more than 59,000 young people nationwide
from kindergarten through high school who move progressively
through Camp Fire club program levels in a group according to
their grade level.
The
club program, which children may join at any age, offers a mix
of fun activities, projects, events and experiences to help
develop planning and decision-making skills as well as skills
related to participants� individual interests. Children learn
to work and play together, and they get involved in service
projects, which help them become responsible citizens concerned
about their communities and society.
Camp
Fire clubs usually meet each week for an hour and are generally
led by two or more adults who have volunteered their time and
skills. Meetings are held after school, evenings or weekends.
One of members’ favorite parts of the club program are the
songs that Camp Fire members
have sung for generations!
Camp
Fire club programs have four important qualities:
1.
Progression:
As the children get older, they do more complex and
challenging activities.
2.
Variety:
The club program develops the whole child and includes a wide
range of activities and skill development.
3.
Partnership
between youth and adults:
Youth and adults together set the direction of activities and
accomplishments.
4.
Rewards
and recognition:
The club program rewards participation and achievement,
helping build self-esteem and pride.
Each
program-level name symbolizes expanding opportunities, choices
and leadership.
