Camp
Fire USA partners with the National Guard to send children
of deployed reservists to summer camp for free

DALLAS
— Camp Fire USA Lone Star Council has partnered up with the
National Guard State Family Program in order to provide the
children of deployed reservists with the opportunity to
attend summer day camp for free.

Camp Fire USAs Camp
Ellowi Day Camp operates from May 26 to Aug. 8. Camp Ellowi
is located at 1227 North Straus Road in Cedar Hill. Day camp
sessions operate Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Child care is provided from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. to 6
p.m. at no extra charge.

In this time of
national unrest, we feel it is Camp Fire USAs duty to
assist the families of those who so diligently and bravely
serve our country, says Tim James, executive director of
the Lone Star Council. Through Camp Fire, these children
can forget about their everyday worries while experiencing
the outdoors in a safe, fun and educational environment.

Each week at Camp Ellowi,
five spots will be reserved for children of deployed
reservists. Nestled on 65 wooded acres, Camp Ellowi is just
20 minutes from downtown Dallas and offers professionally
trained staff, daily nutritious lunches and exciting youth
development activities. Day Camp is an action-packed week
complete with hiking, archery, canoeing, swimming, arts
& crafts, cookouts, songs and much, much more.

Camping is an integral
part of Camp Fire USAs programs, says James.
Children learn valuable leadership and life skills at
camp, while learning to respect and appreciate nature.

Camp Fire USA needs your
help to send youth to camp. Whether you would like to
volunteer your time at Camp Ellowi, donate items to the camp
or send a tax-deductible campership donation to help
send a child of a deployed reservist to camp, there is an
opportunity for you to make a difference in the life of a
child through Camp Fire USA.

I feel a great sense of accomplishment when I see
the smiling faces of my campers, says Danielle Evans, camp
director at the Lone Star Council.
