GRANT:
The grant of $5,000
will be used to support the Lone Star Council�s Kids Club
program.
WHO:
Kids Club provides free
�drop in� after-school programs in low-income apartment
communities
throughout Greater Dallas.
Members enjoy arts �n crafts, drama activities, community
service
projects, reading and
writing exercises and fun games with their peers while
developing important life
and safety skills.
Named the �official
provider of after-school care� by the Apartment Association
of Greater Dallas,
Kids Club provides children
with the safe environments and supportive adult mentors that
they need to
become caring, confident
youth and future leaders.
Kids Club operates weekdays
during the school year from 3 – 6 p.m. and during the summer
from
12:30 � 6 p.m. and is open
to boys and girls ages five to 18 years old.

HISTORY:
Camp Fire was founded as
Camp Fire Girls in 1910. Having served Dallas since 1913,
the organization has been co-educational since 1975. The
organization became Camp Fire USA in August of 2001. Last
year, the Lone Star Council served over 7,000 children and
their families. Nearly all of these programs are offered at
no cost to youth from low-income families.
