Camping and the Outdoor Environment

Camping and
the Outdoor Environment

The Lone Star Council of Camp Fire has been connecting youth with camping
since 1913. Camping programs, all of which meet nationally established standards
for management, leadership, training, program content, health and safety, are
provided year-round.

Through camping, children from diverse backgrounds develop important
skills such as socialization, self-reliance, problem-solving and an appreciation
and commitment to the natural environment. They can make their own decisions,
have fun and be adventurous. Through a group living experience, theyll learn
more about others and themselves.

Area Day Camps
are
offered in the summer and are a weeklong day camp offered at a variety of
locations in and around Dallas. Camp themes like the Wild West Fest and
A Week at the Big Top provide a peek at the fun to come. (Themes vary from
camp to camp and year to year.) The program is based on traditional Camp Fire
club programming. Volunteers and parents staff Area Day Camps. Each camp is
licensed by the Texas Department of Health as required and meets national Camp
Fire Standards.
