Candy Sale Facts:

Camp Fire is the FIRST
organization to ever teach youth about business sense and fundraising by
having members sell candy.

The going rate for good chocolate is $1
per ounce. Each of Camp Fire’s boxes has 5 ounces of good chocolate.

What is Fair Share?

Fair Share is the amount of candy that every member must sell to
support the council. Usually, Fair Share is 60 units.

What is Early Bird?

Youth who sell 45 units in the first week of the sale earn a special
emblem for their effort.

How do I help my child be successful?

Review the Award Sheet and help the child set a goal everyone in the
family can handle. Make sure your child is always in uniform. Take some
candy to work with you. Always accompany your child when they are out
selling candy. Teach them to always say “Thank You”, to be
safe, and to be polite even when others are not.

How do I help the council have a successful sale?

Turn in money often. At least once a week. Take care of the candy.
Always know what you have on hand in case it is needed. Never hold on to
candy. If you are not selling, return it so that others can.

“Candy
Sale is more than a way for Camp Fire USA’s members to support their
organization. It is a way for them to learn personal responsibility and
accountability. The money that we make from the sale of candy is nowhere
near as valuable as the lessons taught to those that participate in the
sale.”
