Tim James, Executive
Director
Since 1986, Tim James has been the executive director of Camp Fire USA Lone Star Council, Inc.
Prior to that he directed YMCA shelter and counseling programs for
runaway youth and their families. This included working for the Casa Shelter and the Promise
House, for which he wrote a federal grant that first founded the program.
Under Tim�s direction, Camp Fire has reached more kids of low-income families
than ever before. These kids have been involved in traditional programs as well as gang prevention
activities and the innovative Kids Club program, an
apartment-based afterschool program that Camp Fire has been running since 1993.
Tim chaired the Junior High Involvement Task Group, which was responsible
for the development of the after-school programming for junior high aged youth in
the Richardson Independent School District.
Currently, Tim is the chair for the Greater Dallas Collaboration of Youth
and serves on the board of directors of the Dallas Commission on Children
and Youth.
