CAMP
FIRE USA CELEBRATES 94 YEARS OF
BUILDING CARING, CONFIDENT YOUTH AND FUTURE LEADERS
DALLAS
March 17
marks Camp Fire USAs
94th year of providing
America’s youth and families with fun, exciting and
asset-building programs.
In the Greater Dallas area,
Camp Fire US Lone Star Council has served thousands of
children and their families since 1913. Last year, more than
7,000 boys and girls, ages five to 18, participated in the
following programs:
Kids Club,
which provides free after-school programs to families living
in over 20 low-income apartment communities; 21st
Century Community Learning Center, which provides free
after-school programs to youth and their families in 10 DISD
schools; KIDTALK, the nationally acclaimed telephone
warmline for kids who are home alone; Alternative
Education, which works with court-referred youth; Community
Family Club, which unites friends and neighbors through
monthly gatherings; Chi Omega Day Camp for low-income
children; summer day camps; and our traditional Club
program. All of Camp Fire USAs programs and activities are
built upon the national organizations foundation of seeking
to improve those conditions in society that affect youth.
Camp Fire
has been an important part of Dallas for four generations,
said Tim James, executive director of the Lone Star Council.
As we near the century mark, we plan to continue expanding
our programs to meet the most urgent needs facing our
community.
