PROGRAM DIRECTOR
PURPOSE/GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF JOB: To coordinate and manage the Camp
Fire Kids Club. To deliver Camp Fire programs to children, youth and
families through appropriately trained and supervised staff and
volunteers. Generate new program opportunities..
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor�s degree in education, recreation or related
field or seven years of equivalent work experience with at least three
years of experience in staff supervision, program development and
expansion and budget management.
RELATIONSHIP TO OTHER JOBS: The Program Director reports to the
Executive Director of the council. The Program Director is a member of
the council�s management team. The Program Director works cooperatively
with the Resource Assistant. The Program Director supervises the Camp
Fire Kids Club employees within an assigned area with other program
employees assigned to that area.

expertise in staff training, program development, program planning and
program management.
Proven
ability to expand programs and increase program participation.
Ability to
work effectively with diverse groups of people.
Ability to
develop and manage a budget.
Skilled in
building relationships with staff, contract management staff, community
members and parents.
Ability to
solve problems and implement solutions.
Ability to
organize and delegate tasks.
Capable of
fulfilling diverse responsibilities in accordance with Camp Fire
standards and required standards of government regulatory services.
Computer
skills including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Access).
FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:
Manage all
aspects of the Camp Fire Kids Club in accordance with Camp Fire
Standards and city and government regulatory standards.
Promote
the expansion and growth of the Camp Fire Kids Clubs at apartment
communities, churches, schools, recreation centers, etc.
Promote
programs so that they maintain maximum participation.
Facilitate
good parent/child/staff relationships.
Recruit,
select, train and supervise paid staff and volunteers.
Develop
program activity calendars and monitor the delivery of daily instruction
plans to program specialists and volunteers at assigned sites, making
use of the full spectrum of Camp Fire program materials and other
available curricula.
Assist in
the planning and implementation of program procedures to insure the safe
operation of programs.
Initiate
and maintain good contacts with key persons in assigned area such as
apartment management/owners.
Assure
compliance with contracts by making monitoring visits to assigned
program sites and preparing site visit reports.
Attend and
actively participate in monthly in-service meetings, apartment manager�s
meetings, departmental staff meetings, and other meetings as assigned.
Prepare
reports and maintain departmental records as required.
Complete
20 hours of related on-going training per year.
Other
duties as assigned by the Executive Director.
Provide
direction to a key area of program responsibility such as Community
Family Club, Camping, A Gift of Giving, etc
WORKING CONDITIONS: The work days for the Kids Club Program Director
shall be Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m., to 6:00 p.m., and some evening
and weekend assignments. The Kids Club Program Director will have office
space at the Camp Fire administrative office. Since public transportation
is not conveniently available, the Program Director must have access to
reliable transportation.
