Camp Fire USA Lone Star Council hires an Executive Director
We are pleased to
announce
that Camp Fire USA Lone Star Council has hired
Anthony D. “Tony” Roberts, Ph.D.
as its
Executive Director.
Tony is a
seasoned not-for-profit professional with
20
years of significant leadership and development experience.
Most recently he was
the Vice President of Development for Texans CAN! Academies
based in Dallas. At Texans CAN!, he was responsible for
raising funds to support ten public, charter high schools,
serving 7,000 at-risk youth annually in five major Texas
cities.
Prior to
his work at Texans CAN!, Tony was the Vice President of
Development for Evergreen Presbyterian Ministries, where he
was in charge of all fund-raising, board development,
marketing and public relations. Evergreen Presbyterian
Ministries, a multi-state, multi-component non-profit,
faith-based agency, serves 750 persons with developmental
and other disabilities in Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas,
Oklahoma and Tennessee.
Prior to
this, he served as the
CEO for Sertoma Center, Inc., an agency serving persons with
disabilities in Knoxville, Tennessee. And he also served as
the Executive Director for
a local
United Way in East Tennessee.
Tony has been a member of the Association of Fundraising
Professionals (AFP) since 1986. He was a founding and
charter member of the Smoky Mountain Chapter of AFP in
Tennessee and is currently a member of the Dallas Chapter.
Originally from Tennessee, Tony received his Ph.D.
and M.Div.
from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville,
Kentucky, and his B.A. from Carson-Newman College in
Jefferson City, Tennessee.
He has two grown daughters who reside in his native
Knoxville, Tennessee.
