Employment Program Is Going Strong
Did
you know that Camp Fire has an incredible FREE employment
program? For seven years, we have provided employment services
to young adults ages 18 to 21.
Sandra
Ballard, Program Coordinator, has been on the forefront four of
those seven years, helping to change lives all over Dallas.
�Camp Fire�s Employment Program helps young adults develop the
skills they need to enter the workforce and to maintain their
jobs. These skills are crucial to our at-risk youth because many
of them lack the social, educational, and language skills to do
it on their own,� Sandra said.
Program
participants receive job placement assistance, job readiness
training, interviewing skills, assistance in obtaining a GED,
and vocational training.
Camp
Fire�s employment program is typically the first introduction to
professional services that our at-risk teens receive. These
youth face many obstacles that hinder their ability to find jobs
on their own. Barriers such as money, child care
and transportation are often encountered.
We
eliminate these barriers by providing free services, taking our
program to young adults, assisting with child care, and working
with partner agencies to help them obtain bus passes.
