Two members of Camp Fire USA Lone Star Council's
Alternative Education program have coined the phrases that will share with others why Dallas County is a special place for youth.
Camp Fire members Angel Ortiz and David Agosto won a slogan contest held by Dallas Metro Youth Services Providers Coalition, a collaboration of local youth development agencies and organizations aiming to improve youth services in Dallas County. Youth between the ages of 10 to 16 years, were invited to enter the contest for a slogan that best describes how the Dallas area is special for youth.

The first place
entry – “Dallas, A Fountain of Youth” – was submitted by
Camp Fire member Angel Ortiz, a student at McDonald Middle
School. The entry will be incorporated into a comprehensive
image campaign throughout Dallas in the coming year, including
bumper stickers, bus ads and billboards.
The second place entry – “Dallas Youth: Mission Possible”
– was submitted by Camp Fire member David Agosto, a student at
South Garland High School.
The awards were presented to the youth winners on May 21 at the
Dallas County Commissioner Court meeting.
“This is a message coming from the youth of Dallas. That’s a
great accomplishment, and something these two young men will
remember for a long time as they see its impact throughout the
Metroplex,” says Chris
Johnson, a program director for Camp Fire USA Lone Star
Council. “So many times today, youth aren’t always
recognized for the positive things they do. Camp Fire focuses on
strengthening youth through positive reinforcement.”
