On Nov. 13, 2004, Camp Fire USA Lone Star Council held the 13th Annual Sporting Chance Auction, at The Women’s Museum: An Institute for the Future with Brendan Higgins, NBC 5 anchor, as master of ceremonies.

Camp Fire USA Lone Star Council will host the 13th Annual Sporting Chance Auction from 7 to 11 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 13, 2004, at The Women’s Museum: An Institute for the Future, 3800 Parry Ave. in Fair Park.

New York Life Foundation Grant Creates Middle School Program

August 24, 2004

On July 1, 2004, the Lone Star Council was one of three Camp Fire USA councils throughout the country to receive a planning grant of $12,000 to develop a “best practices” manual for reaching middle school audiences with the Camp Fire USA curriculum. The grant will also assist with the development and testing of key marketing plans and school outreach strategies for the Greater Dallas community.

Texas Youth Development Corporation Grant Supports Summer Programs

The grant of $3,000 supported the Lone Star Council’s summer day camp scholarships for low-income youth.

Lightner Sams Foundation, Inc. Grant Supports After-School Program

The grant of $5,000 will be used to support the Lone Star Council’s Kids Club program.

WB33 Kids Fund Presents $10,000 Check to Camp Fire USA

June 18, 2004

This year, the WB33 Kids Fund awarded $10,000 to support free “camperships” to Camp Fire USA’s Day Camp. Thanks to this grant, over 150 low-income youth will receive a full scholarship for one of ten week-long day camp sessions at the council’s 65-acre Camp Ellowi.

Send a Camp Fire Kid to Camp Breakfast Raised $18,000

Camp Fire USA Lone Star Council will host the “Send a Camp Fire Kid to Camp” Breakfast, featuring the sixth annual “On Behalf of Youth” Awards, at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 6 at the Park City Club, 5956 Sherry Lane Place. Macie Jepson from WFAA-TV (Channel 8) will serve as the master of ceremonies.
